The Philippine National Police wants to impose a ban on videokes during class hours to make sure that students who are studying under the blended learning set up will not be disturbed.
In Manila, there’s already an ordinance prohibiting the operation of videoke machines after 10 PM. However, the PNP says that an ordinance like this should be extended during school hours to avoid disruption of classes.
PNP Chief Camillo Cascolan said they will coordinate with barangay officials for them to pass a resolution imposing such a ban. Cascolan added that the PNP will be working with the local government units and barangays.
Videoke machine owners told GMA News that they understand the proposal because this would be beneficial to students who find distance learning challenging, especially if the environment is not conducive for learning.
The PNP will also increase police visibility in campuses and universities. Cascolan said that they are on alert on cyberbullying cases. There will also be an intensified monitoring of internet cafes and piso-net operators to make sure safety protocols are in place.
