The government of Abu Dhabi has released the safety regulations as schools resume in-class learning on August 30.
According to the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), online learning will still be available for the entire first time, subject to prior coordination with the school.
The new rules and precautions, in addition, will strictly apply at schools that prefer in-class learning models.
In a report by Gulf News, schools will have the option to choose between five reopening models to balance in-class and online learning. These include full day face-to-face, half-day face-to-face, alternating day, alternating week, and a blended hybrid model. This aims to allow schools to assess and stud how students adapt to the new measures, helping them plan for the return of other students.
All school staff, teachers, and students aged above 12 are also required to undergo a COVID-19 test. Temperatures will also be checked daily for everyone entering the premises.
In addition, at least 1.5 meters of social distancing should also be strictly observed, and that the number of students in each classroom should not exceed 15. Break times will also be made alternately to avoid crowding in canteens.
Teachers and students aged above six will also be required to wear a mask at all times. Schools will also have to conduct sterilization measures.
To ensure that schools comply to these regulations, ADEK will conduct field visits prior to and during the term.
Parents are also advised to contact 800-ADEK for more information and to report concerns about the school and the students.
