The South Korean government has donated P36.8 million worth of medical supplies to support the Philippines’ fight against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The donation included 600,000 KF94 masks and seven walk-through COVID-19 testing booths via the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
Also covered by the turnover rites were 1,000 face shields jointly donated by the Korean Embassy in partnership with a private Korean firm, and 10,000 sets of test kits good for up to 325,000 tests donated by SD Biosensor, Inc. through KOTRA, which arrived last week.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said this further solidified South Korea’s standing as one of the country’s staunch supporters in addressing the spread of COVID-19.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. received the donations from Ambassador Han Dong-man.
In April, the South Korean Embassy turned over 700 Q-Sens COVID-19 diagnostic kits worth $500,000.
This was quickly followed by additional 17,664 COVID-19 diagnostic kits also worth $500,000, one set of PCR and DNA extraction equipment, and 300 sets of personal protective equipment (PPEs). KOICA, for its part, provided $50,000-worth of PPEs.
