Taxis in Saudi now allowed to deliver orders in non-lockdown cities

Saudi Arabia has approved taxis to work in delivery services in non-lockdown cities using delivery apps, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
According to Minister of Transport Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, these public transport vehicles can operate in non-lockdown cities during the allowable hours and deliver orders using delivery apps.

He added that a specialist working team has set specific orders—to be announced by the Public Transport Authority—to guarantee the highest safety standards for the wellbeing of passengers and drivers.
The taxi drivers, SPA added in its report, must adhere to the guidelines set by the authorities before they conduct this activity. The minister added that this move will help some private sector firms, as well as taxi drivers impacted by the precautionary measures against COVID-19, earn some income.
“We, in this country, are working on managing this crisis according to well-studied, correct steps, in which the state institutions are exerting concerted efforts, forming an ideal and successful model in crisis management,” SPA quoted Al-Jasser as saying.
