Saudi Arabia has announced its plans to help extend the validity of ATM cards that have expired or will soon expire as part of its response to the economic impact of coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Saudi Gazette reported.
The Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA) recently gave orders to banks to extend the validity of ATM cards until June 2, 2020, as well as approved suspending the freezing of bank accounts of individuals whose national identity cards have expired or whose bank accounts have become stagnant.

In a report by Saudi Press Agency, SAMA noted that—if a client disapproves the extension—it will take into consideration looking for solutions to renew the cards and deliver it to the clients using all means possible.
The authority added that these efforts aim to help bank clients counter the fallout of the pandemic, as well resolve trouble they face during these times.
