Since the Umrah season started, around 3 million visas have already been issued to Muslim pilgrims, Saudi Gazette reported.
In a statistical data released by the Ministry of Haj and Umrah, over 2.29 million visas have been released in just five months since the Umrah season started.
A total of 2,595,830 pilgrims have arrived in the Kingdom already for the pilgrimage—with 2,437,148 arriving by air. 147,965 arriving through land ports, and 10,717 arriving through the seaports.
The data added that Pakistan tops number of pilgrims with 601,880. Indonesia came second with 537,894, and India with 307,066 pilgrims.
At least two million foreign Muslim pilgrims join more than one million Saudis every year to perform the Umrah rites, an annual religious pilgrimage to Mecca believed to be a spiritual voyage towards Allah.
