Dozens of teens in the United States have reportedly been hospitalized due to sever lung injuries due to vaping.
The primary cause on how vaping and the lung injuries relate to each other still puzzles US health officials.
Health officials from Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin said that patients showed coughs, shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue, symptoms that led them to hospitals where they had to be intubated.
At least 30 cases are confirmed while 22 remains to be under investigation.
US health officials said that ‘dabbing’ or vaping with marijuana may also be connected.
“At this particular point, vaping is the only thing that they have in common, but we’re trying to cast a broader net and just make sure that we are not missing something as well,” a health official said.
The cases are unusual for health experts because vaping or e-cigarettes have been available since 2006 and scientific studies showed that vaping is less harmful than traditional smoking.
