Pinay maids in Hong Kong are making waves in dragonboat races.
The 29-member Filipino Dynamos team gather every Sunday to compete. Sunday is their only day off from work.
Dragonboat races in the Chinese-administered city has been ongoing for thousands of years.
“We want to represent the domestic helpers as part of Hong Kong, part of the community, and we don’t want to feel excluded,” Liza Avelino founder of Dynamos told GMA News.
Hong Kong hires more than 300,000 domestic workers mostly from the Philippines and Indonesia.
The team hopes to compete in six dragonboat competitions this year. They also took the time to thank their employers for the support they are getting in this chosen sport and activity.
