Amsterdam to ban tours of its red-light district

Planning to travel to The Netherlands or chasing Holland tulips and windmills on your bucket list?

It looks like you only have this year to get to see the Red Light District in Amsterdam.

Prostitution is legal in Holland and De Wallen Red Light District is one of its most popular travel activities.

But Amsterdam city government thought it is time to stop treating sex workers as tourist attraction.

The ban will go into effect on January 1, 2020 to give tour companies time to wind down their business in the Red Light District.

Around 42 million travelers visited The Netherlands in 2017. Some travel agencies offer Red Light District tours to group tours, as well as Rijksmuseum and walking tour to the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam.

There are no records of Filipino travellers to The Netherlands. But there are around 157,825 Filipinos who apply Schengen visas in Schengen embassies in the Philippines every year, according to US-based travel online services Visa Reservation.
