A couple’s wedding day is a monumental event for both of them as it opens a new chapter in their lives. Aside from professing their love for each other, it marks the start of the family that they will build and nurture together.
However, while many see weddings as a fairy tale-like event, it can burn a hole in the couple’s wallet. According to iMoney.ph’s survey in 2017, the average cost of a wedding in the Philippines, with around 150 guests, is P300,000.
Most couple would save up for years just to achieve the wedding of their dreams, but this couple decided to take a different and a more practical route which caught the attention and was lauded by netizens.
On January 18, events photographer Michael See Apeles of Wowenkho Studios took to Facebook share some photos he took of newlyweds Gilbert and Fely Joy Ynclino on their wedding day.
Netizens can’t help but notice the beauty of their small and simple wedding since their love for each other was enough to make their wedding extravagant and luxurious.
As of press time, Apeles’ post has earned over 91,000 reactions and 25,000 shares on Facebook.
While other couples would book hotels and rent vintage cars for their wedding, Fely got glammed up inside their house and Gilbert rode the traditional Philippine jeepney.
In an interview with PEP.ph, they said that they chose not to shell out much money. Gilbert and Fely said that they did not pay for caterers since their family members prepared the food for them.
Their reception was held in an events place in Marikina City, but they only stayed there for four hours. After their time there, they moved to their home in the same city to continue the celebration.
The couple also said that they only wanted a civil wedding since a Christian ceremony cost more, but their family helped them to make their wedding possible.
The couple added that they only spent P20,000 for their wedding, which is only around 7% of the mentioned average cost.
