New Dubai island destination ‘Bluewaters’ now open

The most refreshing and much-awaited tourist destination in Dubai, Bluewaters island, has finally opened featuring the world’s largest observation wheel—Ain Dubai.

Bluewaters has officially opened its doors to public as announced by the Dubai Media Office on Monday, November 12.

The landmark-in-the-making channels a distinct island vibe mixed with the modernity of the landscape’s high-rise buildings. Residential, hospitality, leisure, and entertainment spaces are situated on the island which tourists and residents alike can access upon visit.

“Dubai has always had its eye on the future. As the city develops in line with the vision of the UAE’s leadership, we are constantly striving to achieve greater heights,”said His Excellency Abdulla Al Habbai, Group Chairman of Meraas.

BluEwaters island’s lifestyle and retail area called The Wharf will house 132 retail and dining outlets connected by walkways with striking light features.

The island’s residential area called the Bluewaters Residences comprises ten mid-rise towers featuring 698 apartments, four penthouses and 17 townhouses. Each penthouse enjoys 60-degree views of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai Marina, Ain Dubai and Dubai’s skyline.

Turnovers of the residential units are set for December 2018, which means Bluewaters island will welcome its very first residents by the first quarter of 2019.

“We are proudest of the fact that it will bring people together and create enriching experiences to support the growth of Dubai as a global hub,” Al Habbai added.

Ain Dubai, the Ferris wheel that stands at a staggering height of 210m, is the island’s centerpiece. It will carry up to 1,400 passengers at a time in its 48 double-glazed capsules, offering stunning 360-degree views of Dubai.

Bluewaters is located right across Jumeirah Beach Residences and a 20-minute drive from City Walk. Both Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum Airport can be reached in 30 minutes while Abu Dhabi Airport is just 45 minutes away.
