Comedian Dagul or Romy Pastrana in real life remains hopeful that things will get better amid the ‘gigantic’ challenges he is now facing to provide for his family.
In an interview with ‘Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho’, Dagul shared that he is now having a hard time walking on his own.
He often uses a wheelchair or his sons would carry him whenever he needs to go his workplace.
Without any showbiz projects, the comedian now works as a barangay staff with a monthly P12,000 income. This is small compared to what he earns during his showbiz stint.
“Tumakbo akong konsehal. Hindi naman ako pinalad. Walang kumukuha kaya ano lang muna, raket-raket… sabi ko sikat ka naman noon, lumubog ka ngayon. Ang showbiz, weder-weder lang,” he said.

Dagul said that he was able to buy a house and send his children to school but due to lack of showbiz projects, Dagul is now even struggling to make ends meet.
“Sabi ko sa mga anak ko, ‘Tiis-tiis lang. Ganun talaga ang buhay, hindi ‘yung lagi tayong nasa itaas, minsan nasa ibaba,’” he said.
Dagul shared that he attempted to contact his friends from showbiz whenever he has nothing left. One of the celebrities who never hesitated to help is Benjie Paras.
Napakabait. Pag tine-text ko ‘yan na talagang walang-wala ako, nagre-reply ‘yan, ‘Sige brod, magpapadala ako sa yo,’” Dagul said.
Dagul said he is willing to return to show business so that he can continue providing for his family.
