Beautiful sceneries from Milan and Venice took centerstage for the Fall-Winter 2021 collection of internationally-renowned, Dubai-based Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco.
In a message to The Filipino Times, Cinco shared that he initially intended to do the shoot last year but plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I was planning to go to the Amalfi Coast last year but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, it was put on hold. During the lockdown last year Italy was one of the countries heavily affected by the pandemic,” said Cinco.
Cinco, recipient of the inaugural The Filipino Times Awards’ Rizal Award and Fashion Designer of the Year in 2015, shared that his latest collection draws inspiration from Italy’s art scene.
“I was inspired by the art and architecture of Milan and Venice in Italy so I decided to create a collection from that. When Italy opened for the tourists I decided to visit the Amalfi Coast and passed by Milan and Venice to shoot,” said Cinco.
Cinco’s team took the trip to various iconic landmarks and sights in Milan and Venice such as the Duomo di Milano, the San Marco Basilica, and a gondola ride in Venice.
“Of course I am always fascinated by the gothic architecture of Duomo di Milano for me it’s one of the most beautiful cathedrals in the world,” said Cinco.
He added: “I’ve been to Venice many times and the city is so unique and inspiring. I love the museums, the Piazza San Marco, the bridges, the gondolas, the canals. But I decided to shoot outside San Marco Basilica because I was inspired by the paintings and mosaic of the church.”
Cinco thanks his team who made his Fall-Winter 2021 shoot a success. The team is comprised of: Juan Padilla Jr. for photography; Monica Cruz for Hair and Make-up; Rhon Balagtas for Styling; Chona Bacaoco for Production; together with Chris, Luca, Veronika, Alessia, and Michelle as his models.
