Veteran actress Nova Villa has been conferred with the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice medal, the highest award given by the Pope to lay people.
According to a report by Veritas 846, the actress received the award last January 14 at the San Lorenzo Ruiz Parish in Quezon City.
“Yung ambisyon kong mag-artista became a mission, lahat ng ginagawa ko sa showbiz ay may kaakibat na misyon,” the actress said in an interview.
The actress did not expect that she will receive the award.
“Bukal sa puso ko yung anything na ginagawa ko for God; I’m happy to do it kahit mahirap,” she said.
Novaliches Bishop Roberto Gaa said that awardees should continue spreading the gospel to his or her community after their cognition.
“Ang Papal award ay tatak ng paglilingkod sa simbahan na may kaakibat na malaking responsibilidad; They are shining example sana paano mamuhay bilang kristiyano,” Gaa said.
On Instagram, Aiai delas Alas, who also received the Papal award in 2016, congratulated the 73-year-old actress.
“We are very happy and rejoicing with you (my co-Papal awardee),” said delas Alas in her post accompanied by a slide show of photos taken when Villa received the award.
