Celebrity doctor, Vicki Belo has revealed the kind of bullying she’s been through that motivated her to create her own beauty empire.
In the Magpasikat segment of noontime show, “It’s Showtime,” Belo recalled her experiences as a child when she was chubby and adopted.
“Parang ayaw mo nang may nabu-bully. Ayaw mo nang may naiiwan. Hindi niyo alam, kaya ako pumasok sa beauty business dahil I was also a victim of bullying. So, when I was a child, I was very fat. I was five years old, I weighed a hundred pounds. And I was adopted, ampon po ako ng mga Belo,” she said.
The doctor turned emotional recalling her ordeal.
“Iyong mga kids tinutukso ako, ‘Bakit ka pinamigay, dahil pangit ka? Or dahil ang taba mo?’” she said.
Belo then explained what got her into the beauty business.
“I think people don’t understand that the reason I went into beauty is I want to make everyone beautiful. Because when they’re more beautiful, they’re more loved, accepted,” she said.
Belo lauded Vice Ganda’s performance about self love which won the grand prize for the noontime show’s 10th anniversary. (TN)
