Lawmakers and guests have always been the talk of the town during the State of the Nation Address (SONA). Every year, aside from the speech of the President, Filipinos love how their favorite icons from the field of politics display their wardrobes for that special day. And this year, some of the notable personalities who wore iconic dresses and dubbed as “head turner” used the event as an opportunity to express their styles or rather, forward their advocacies.
Vice President Leni Robredo and her daughters Aika, Tricia, and Jillian’s Filipiniana attire made from the works of weaving communities in Marawi City and Basilan, which are supported by VP Leni’s office under its Angat Buhay Program.
On the other hand, Senator Nancy Binay wore Randy Ortiz’ classic terno with Callado cutwork and baroque embroidery details.
Senator Risa Hontiveros was also seen wearing a barong blouse and skirt.
As they walked the red carpet, the newly-elected senators like Sen. Imee Marcos’ yellow and red gradient gown La Filigrina” designed by no less than Mak Tumang. Tumang designed Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s iconic gowns.
The magenta fuchsia pink of Senator Pia Cayetano weaved with local prints on her gown was also a good one.
However, Senator Grace Poe decided to wear again her signature white knee-length dress.
Other showbiz personalities did not give the other cards to show off their real beauty. This includes tress Dina Bonnevie in black and white terno along with her husband Ilocos Sur Rep. Deogracias Victor “DV” Savellano
Actress Aiko Melendez and Ciara Sotto also wore classic Filipiniana gowns.
