Kapamilya star Bela Padilla took to her Twitter account her appeal for the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) to protect its workers.
Bela shared a photo of MMDA workers at the back of a truck with no safety equipment in place and exposed in the scorching heat.
“Hello MMDA, I hope next time you can transport your workers more safely. If we have laws to keep objects in closed trucks to avoid accidents, is it right that your men are exposed to harm this way?” Padilla tweeted.
“Thank you for calling out agencies who are responsible to initiate safety and discipline first and foremost. We need influencers like you. But more than this, I hope our fellow Filipinos will also do each one’s part to have a better Philippines,” one netizen commended Bela’s action to call out MMDA.
“I think the #MMDA needs to do a better job of looking after the health and safety of their employees and job orders. Last year, Traffic Constable Maricel Gammad died when an armored vehicle hit her while on duty along EDSA. MMDA enforcers are used as human traffic cones,” another netizen recalled in response to Bella’s tweet.
The MMDA has yet to issue a comment on Bela’s tweet.
