Filipino-Canadian YouTube star and vlogger Mikey Bustos has come out as a gay man through a social media post on Sunday.
In his Instagram account, Mikey posted a photo of himself and his male friend, RJ Garcia, and #NewLife while on vacation in Puerto Galera.
The post also includes a red heart, rainbow flag emojis that are symbols of the LGBTQ community.
In another photo with RJ, Mikey used the caption “freedom.”
Mikey was first known for YouTube videos that showcase funny Filipino traits and culture.
He also posted about disclosing his sexual orientation to his father.
“Figuring out how to navigate life in the most authentic and positive way has been such a long +37 yr journey for me, and at this moment, I feel I’ve reached some kind of karmic jackpot! It’s 2019 (as my dad put it when I came out to him a few weeks ago), and a great time to be alive LGBT,” he said.
Mikey also thanked his supporters.
