Canadian pop star Justin Bieber is one of this generation’s biggest music artists with multiple hits and millions of fans all over the world, but did you know that a Filipino works for him behind the scenes?
Florido, a Los Angeles-based Filipino hairstylist and groomer, is one of the people responsible in making Bieber look his best.
In an interview with Refinery29, Florido said that he originally auditioned to become Bieber’s dancer.
He was asked to stay for callbacks after he auditioned but he told Bieber’s choreographer that he won’t make it as he still has some clients waiting for him in the salon he was working at that time.
After he was not able to become one of Bieber’s dancers, he thought that it was over until the choreographer called him once again just before the singer leaves for tour.
“Then, before they left for tour, the choreographer called me. He said, ‘Hey, I know you do hair but do you also do makeup? Because they’re looking for another groomer.’ It was like 10:30 at night and I started screaming in my house, ‘Oh my god, what is happening?!’ I’m like, ‘Okay, calm down, Flo, calm down,'” he told Refinery29.
At first, he thought that Bieber would not like him, but the pop star has “grown to love him” and the rest was history.
For eight years now, Florido has been responsible in cutting, coloring, and styling Bieber’s hair. He was the one who did Bieber’s looks in several events, television appearances, album covers, photo shoots, etc.
Earlier this year, he also groomed Bieber look when he graced the cover of Vogue Magazine with his wife, Hailey Baldwin.
Florido has also since become the go-to hairstylist of Bieber’s wife.
Aside from Bieber and Baldwin, Florido has also styled the hair and groomed several other Hollywood celebrities and personalities, including Halsey, Maddie Ziegler, The Chainsmokers, Tori Kelly, Sabrina Carpenter, Liza Koshy, Karlie Kloss, Kaia Gerber, Lele Pons, Ruby Rose, Charlize Theron, and Jasmine Tookes, among many others.
