Katarina Rodriguez was recently crowned as the Philippines’ representative to the upcoming Miss World competition. But days prior to Rodriguez’s coronation, one of her supposed competitors in the said prestigious international pageant got disqualified after lying about her civil status.
Beauty queen Veronika Didusenko was all set to represent Ukraine in the Miss World 2018 competition after she bagged the title, Miss Ukraine.
However, only four days after the crown was placed on her head, the pageant officials took away the title from her after it was discovered that she is a divorced mother.
The organization of the Miss Ukraine pageant found out that Didusenko put false information in her application form. They have also released a statement saying that all of their candidates must strictly comply with the requirements.
“A person who wishes to take part in the National Beauty contest Miss Ukraine must comply, among other things, with the following requirements (valid for the period of the Contest): — not / was not married; — does not have a child,” the statement said.
“Dídusenko has provided inaccurate information, confirming that she was not married and has no children. Contestants may not be married or pregnant. They must not have never been married, not had a marriage annulled nor given birth to, or parented a child. The titleholders are also required to remain unmarried throughout their reign,” the statement added.
Dídusenko’s boyfriend, Gennadiy Kurockha, has confirmed via Facebook that the 23-year-old beauty queen and model has a “wonderful four-year-old boy from her first marriage.”
She also posted a photo on Instagram saying that her dethronement is a form of “discrimination”.
19-year-old model Leonila Guz assumed the title and will compete as Ukraine’s representative in the Miss World pageant which will take place in Sanya, China on December 8.
