It seems that many are still not over the Binibining Pilipinas hype yet. The annual national beauty pageant, which was held last March 18, 2018 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, crowned 24-year-old model and singer Catriona Gray.
Aside from bagging the highly coveted Miss Universe-Philippines title, Gray made her mark in the history of this pageant when she took home three of the most coveted major awards, namely the Best in National Costume, Best in Swimsuit, and Best in Long Gown awards.
For the long gown portion of the pageant, Gray donned a beaded dress with a thigh high slit designed by Mak Tumang.
But aside from her jaw-dropping dress, beauty pageant enthusiasts can’t help but notice her choice of accessory – an ear cuff that she wore on her right ear.
The ear cuff is called “The Three Stars and the Sun” by Tessera Jewelry. The accessory pays homage to the flag of the Philippines as it artistically recreated the symbolic stars and sun of the national banner.
According to Cosmo.ph, Carl Deo Fider, owner of Tessera Jewelry, said the design was mainly conceptualized by Gray herself together with her stylist Ton Lao. The beauty queen reached out to the jewelers to create the custom-made masterpiece.
Fider added that Gray’s ear cuff took more than a month to make.
What makes the ear cuff a statement piece is that it is made with “18k solid gold studded with 4 carat (total) natural diamonds”. The single ear piece is also valued at a staggering amount of P178,000.
For those who would like to channel their inner Catriona Gray, the jewelry brand also offers a more affordable version of the ear cuff valued at P9,900.
