A 20-year-old half-Filipina, half-Malaysian with moles covering her body and face has auditioned for the Miss Universe Malaysia 2018 beauty pageant.
Evita Delmundo said trying out for Miss Universe Malaysia has always been her dream. She is optimistic of getting a chance to represent Malaysia in the Miss Universe competition after her audition interview on June 17.
Giving Delmundo the inspiration and encouragement are her parents, Miss Universe Malaysia 2017 Samantha Katie James and her more than 34,000 Instagram followers.
Because of her condition, Delmundo was bullied as a pre-schooler and was called names like “monster” and “chipsmore.” But she learned to accept her condition when she was 16 because of the support of other schoolmates and skin specialists’ advice that the moles are normal and not caused by a disease.
If she doesn’t make it to the competition, Delmundo said it will not devastate her and will still try to join other beauty contests.
