Opportunities pour in for TFT awardee

Even before winning the prestigious TFT Awards 2016 as the Most Promising Fashion Designer of the Year, Harvey Cenit was already a prominent figure in the UAE’s fashion scene. He was one of few Filipino fashion designers in the emirates who known for dolling up celebrities.

These days, the 29-year-old is working on his plans of owning his couture line, while leading his 10-member team as the in-house fashion designer at Al Arousa Al Anigah Couture.

Cenit said he is grateful for The Filipino Times for last year’s recognition as it opened up many doors for himself and his art.

“Winning the award taught me to be more responsible and hardworking. The title gave me inspiration to keep evolving and growing so that I can be the best version of myself.

“TFT Awards helped me a lot. It became a platform for my art to be seen all over the Gulf and reach a wider audience. Thanks to the awards body, a lot of opportunities kept on pouring in. I get to do the thing I love most, and that’s fashion,” Cenit said.

“Winning the award taught me a lot of things. It taught me to be more responsible and hardworking. The title gave me inspiration to keep evolving and growing so that I can be the best version of myself.”

Apart from working on famous personalities, Cenit is busy glamming up his royal elite clientele, a job that he has grown to love.

“I’m busy as a bee. I’ve never been so busy doing both my collections and custom-made dresses. But I’m not complaining, rather I’m loving every moment of it,” he quipped.

Proud of the accolades he received for his contribution to the fashion industry and for making his fellow Filipinos in the UAE proud, Cenit advises this year’s nominees not to hesitate to pursue their dreams. He said, “Don’t be afraid, no matter what the obstacles are. Be true to yourself and your vision.” (Gelin Castro)
