A 52-year-old Air India flight attendant sustained multiple injuries after falling from a plane that was preparing for boarding on Monday morning, October 15.
Harsha Lobo was preparing for a flight to Delhi when the unfortunate event happened.
An airport official said that Lobo has sustained compound fracture on her right lower leg bones and multiple blunt injuries, reported The Hindu newspaper.
She was immediately attended by doctors at the Mumbai airport before she was taken to the hospital for further medical treatments.
India’s national carrier has released a statement saying they will be investigating the incident.
“In an unfortunate incident, one of our cabin crew (members), Harsha Lobo, fell down on the tarmac from the Boeing-777 aircraft door while closing it,” the airline said.
This isn’t the first time a flight attendant has experienced an accident while working. It was reported last March that an Emirates airline flight attendant fell from an emergency exit of a Boeing 777 parked in Uganda which eventually caused her death.
