OFW couple who now owns several properties says ‘It’s never too late to invest’

Roy and Jinky Rogelio have already been in Dubai for quite a while when they decided to start investing.

“Nung nag umpisa kami, 30 years old na ako,” said Roy Rogelio who now works as a Bank Customer Due Diligence Specialist. He started working in Dubai in 1996; his wife Jinky came five years later.

Jinky shared: “At that time, hindi rin po nag-agree ang husband ko kasi nga yung salary namin hindi ganung kalaki. But then sabi ko sa kanya, kung hindi natin uumpisahan, wala tayong matatapos. After five years, nagulat na lang kami, tapos na yung lupa,” said Jinky.

Roy tells TFT they aimed to have a better living space for their kids compared to the place that he and his wife lived in when they grew up: “Actually, kasi kaming dalawa, lumaki kami sa yung mga lugar na maraming tao.

When they managed to finish their first investment, that was just the beginning of their investment portfolio. But they limited themselves to investing within their means.

Roy adds that after purchasing their land, they moved on to getting a house: “Nagstart kami na mag-invest naman sa bahay at lupa aside dun sa lupa na kinuha namin for 10 years pero nabayaran namin within 5 years,” said Roy.

At present, the Rogelio couple owns a house and lot at Laguna, a lot in Rosario, Cavite; a condo in Sta. Mesa. and they even have a mutual fund investment! Roy said it’s only a matter of having a firm decision with guidance from God.

Jinky adds that you should make that decision to invest your hard-earned money to see your efforts bear fruit for your future: “Ke bata ka, ke matanda ka na.. kung kaya naman, bakit hindi gawin?” she said.
