Shane Filan, lead singer of the famous 90s boy band Westlife, arrived in the Philippines last February 8 to promote his new album “Love Always”.
One of the tracks in his album is his cover of Lady Antebellum’s song “Need You Now”, which he recorded with Filipina bossanova queen Sitti.
“It’s my first duet in the Philippines, too, which is gonna be pretty cool. I love her version, it’s been really really good! I’m going to meet her for the first time today,” Filan said of his duet with Sitti.
Sitti also gushed over her meeting with Filan and posted a photo of her and the Irish singer on her Instagram account.
“Somebody pinch me! Shane Filan and I have a collab, everyone! We recorded a song together! Can’t wait for you all to hear it… Oh, my fangirl heart!” she captioned the photo.
Filan performed with Sitti and Sabrina, another Filipina singer, in different Robinsons malls last February 9 to 11.
The Irish singer also performed on ASAP, a variety talent show in the Philippines, on February 11.
Aside from his collaboration with Sitti, the album will also contain original songs and Filan’s cover of other hits such as “This I Promise You” by NSYNC, “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House, “Heaven” by Brian Adams, and “Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan.

Before coming to the Philippines, Filan also performed in other Southeast Asian countries like Malaysia and Singapore.
Filan’s last performance in the Philippines was three years ago during his Manila concert.
Westlife, which was formed in 1998 and signed by famous producer Simon Cowell, was the Irish boyband behind the hits “My Love”, “If I Let You Go”, “Uptown Girl”, and “Fool Again”.
