A woman, earlier reported to be a Filipino, was cleared of involvement in the Las Vegas Strip massacre, the deadliest mass shooting—resulted in 59 deaths and 527 injured people—in U.S. history.
Authorities said that Marilou Danley, 62, was not in the US at the time of the bloody incident. Thus, clearing her name as a companion of 64-year-old alleged killer Stephen Paddock.
Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Robespierre Bolivar also confirmed that Danley out of the country at that time.
“Ms Danley was not in the US at the time of the incident and is no longer a person of interest in the investigation,” Rappler has quoted Bolivar as saying.
As of today, there is no official confirmation of where she was at the time of the mass shooting.
“She was reported to have been in the Philippines at the time of the incident, but there are unconfirmed reports that she is no longer in the Philippines at this time,” Bolivar said.
Danley was suspected to be Paddock’s companion in the mass shooting after authorities found out that the latter used the former’s slot card to gamble at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.
Daily Mail has reported that Danley is Paddock’s girlfriend, with records showing that the two are living together in a two-bedroom home in Mesquite, Nevada.
The woman migrated to the US 20 years ago after her Australian husband passed away.
On the other hand, Paddock was going through a divorce with his former wife.
In her deleted Facebook page, Danley described herself as a “proud mom and grandma who lives life to the fullest”.
Photos of Danley also showed that she has been to different places like the Philippines and Dubai.
