Dubai cements Guinness record for ‘largest continuous concrete pour’

The Dubai adds another world record under its belt as the Guinness World Records announced that the emirate has recorded the ‘largest continuous concrete pour in the world’, with a concrete volume of 21,580 cubic metres, beating its own record of 19,793 cubic meters last year in Al Barsha South.

The 35-hour and 19-minute concrete pouring process for a residential commercial building in Jebel Ali started at 7:21 pm on May 18 and ended at 8:46 am on May 20. Last year’s record-breaking pour took 42 hours.

Ready mix concrete trucks made 2,618 trips for the concrete pouring process. About 500 workers per shift, 18 concrete pumps, and 2,700 tons of reinforcing steel bars were used for the work.

Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality said the feat was made possible thanks to the support and guidance of the government and concerned officials in the Buildings Department.
