The Department of Foreign Affairs has raised the crisis alert level in Sri Lanka to Alert Level 2 due to the security and political situation there.
“It means there will be no new deployment of overseas Filipino workers to Sri Linka, and only those with existing employment contracts are allowed to return to the South Asian country,” the DFA said.
The DFA says no Filipinos affected so far by the massive protests in the country.

“According to the Embassy, no Filipinos were reported injured during the recent violent protests,” the DFA also said.
The DFA vows to provide the necessary assistance for Filipinos in Sri Lanka.
“However, the DFA said that there are no plans yet to evacuate Filipinos from Sri Lanka at this time,” the department said.
