Parents in UAE urged to keep track of online activity of kids

The UAE Authorities have urged parents to keep track of online activity of their kids during summer break.

They asked parents to prevent children from online threats and bullying with the Abu Dhabi Police stating that youngsters could be exposed to numerous risks online like cyberbullying, cyber predators, blackmail, posting personal info, access to inappropriate content and phishing.

The youngsters might spend a number of hours on-line enjoying video games or on social media with police issuing the warning as part of the ‘Safe Summer’ campaign.

Captain Yaqoub Yousef Al Hammadi, director of the child exploitation branch on the Internet at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Investigations in Abu Dhabi Police said that some parents were reluctant to use the various control monitoring programs or apps on the internet.

The officer said several parental control tools which work on different devices and smart phones, can be used effectively to protect children.
