The Philippine government has breached a milestone of receiving 200 million COVID-19 vaccine deliveries.
Assistant Secretary Wilben Mayor, head of the National Task Force on COVID-19 sub-task group on current operations made the announcement aftee the country received 1,957,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses bought by the private sector.

The vaccines were part of the deal procured by the business groups from the British vaccine manufacturer.
The government aims to fully vaccinate 54 million Filipinos by the end of the year.

Government officials however admit that the target is now difficult to achieve following the impact of Typhoon Odette in the Visayas and Mindanao.
