Customs destroy Php7.4B worth of fake Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Bvlgari, other counterfeit items of luxury and sports brands

The Bureau of Customs has destroyed some P7.4B worth of fake goods in Valenzuela City on Monday, September 20.

In a statement, the counterfeit products were those of known registered brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Vans, Fubu, Tribal, Under Armour, Nike, Adidas, Zara, H&M, Calvin Klein, Old Navy, Guess, Lee, Tommy Hilfiger, Lacoste, Havaianas, Freego, Wrangler, Burberry, Jordan, Gap, Bershka, Macbeth, Puma, Hollister, Reebok, Joe Malone, and Bvlgari.

Bags, shoes, and clothes were destroyed through crushing while officials treated chemicals such as fake shampoos and lotions so that they will not harm the environment.

The items were discovered and confiscated from Pasay City.

The goods are worth of PHP7,429,638,000 and considered to be the biggest accomplishment by the Customs bureau.

The BOC added that the imported counterfeit items were seized for violation of Section 108 (f) of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and RA 8293 otherwise known as the Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines. (TDT)
