Three men have been sentenced to 6 months of jail and fines after being convicted of impersonating as members of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), kidnapping, and attacking a man.
Two of them will be deported after serving jail time.
The gang of three reportedly stole a cellphone and cash worth Dhs80.
The incident took place last August 2020. The victim was stopped by the three suspects on a Dubai street. They asked the victim why he was still there during that time.
The third suspect kidnapped the man and told him that he would be brought to the CID office.
They attacked the victim, took his phone, and Dhs80.
The victim called his friend and asked for the police’s help.
The police rescued the man and the suspects confessed to the crime.
