The Philippines will receive some of United States President Joe Biden’s pledge to donate 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines according to Philippine ambassador to the United States Babe Romualdez.
Romualdez said that he received a call from the White House telling him of the decision of the Biden administration to include the Philippines among the recipients of possibly Moderna and AstraZeneca vaccines.

The vaccines will be given for free by the US government.
“Ang pagkasabi sa amin, although wala pa yung amount, sabi nila as soon as possible. Siguro naman di naman tatagal ng more than a month,” Romualdez said.

The Philippines is also expected to receive its first procurement of a total of two million doses from the US this June.
Additional vaccines from Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer will also arrive not later than July or August. (TDT)
