LOOK: SpaceX rocket launches 60 Starlink satellites in orbit

SpaceX

Elon Musk’s Aerospace company SpaceX has carried out its second launch of Falcon 9 first stage booster rocket to place 60 Starlink satellites in orbit.

Earlier, the same two-stage-to-orbit rocket had launched the Sentinel-6A mission.

SpaceX rocket with the 60 Starlink satellites were launched on Wednesday from the Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.

Describing this launch as the 13th Starlink launch of the year for SpaceX, the company’s Dragon propulsion engineer Youmei Zhou, in a live-streaming message, expressed his happiness while noting that every such launch brought closer connections for people across the world.

More satellites in orbit meant installation of more ground stations and this would mean continued improvement of the company’s networking software, data speed latency and dramatic enhancement of uptime, Zhou said.

Weather across Florida has been favorable for rocket launching with extreme dryness in the wet season and, according to the 45th Weather Squadron, Wednesday’s forecast was no different as weather conditions were expected to be 90% ideal for the launch window.
