The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) has announced that asymptomatic individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 may still need the vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), depending on their conditions.
In a media briefing, authorities announced that not all individuals who have recovered from the COVID-19 may have developed antibodies to fight its possible resurgence, especially if the person did not show any symptoms during the first onset and detection of the virus in their body.

“According to studies, those who had minor infections or did not show symptoms during infection with the virus don’t necessarily have immunity against it. And the vaccination of infected people depends mainly on the recommendation and evaluation of specialists,” said NCEMA.
Authorities furthered the need for immunity tests to gauge if the person who recovered has gain enough antibodies. Positive immunity tests would be an indication that the individual no longer needs to get the jab.
“If the immunity tests are positive, they would not require vaccination. However, if antibodies are not formed, they would be given the vaccine,” explained NCEMA in their statement on Twitter.
