A top-ranking Philippine Army (PA) official has identified the two female suicide bombers who executed the twin bombings in Jolo Sulu that killed more than 15 people and injured over 70 individuals on August 24.
In a report by Philippine News Agency (PNA), PA commander Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said that the two bombers go by their aliases “Nanah” and “Inda Nay.”
According to him, Nanah was the wife of Filipino suicide bomber Normal Lasuca, who bombed the 1st Brigade Combat Team in Sulu in June 2019, killing 7 and injuring 12 people.

Inda Nay, meanwhile, was the widow of Abu Talha, believed to be an Islamic State conduit who was killed in an encounter with the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion in November 2019.
“The two female suicide bombers are the same targets being tracked by the group of Maj. (Marvin) Indammog before they were killed by policemen on 29 June 2020,” Sobejana said.
He added that Indammog, Capt. Irwin B. Managuelod, Sgt. Jaime M. Velasco, and Cpl. Abdal Asula were doing intelligence and monitoring operations against the two when they were shot dead by police officers in Jolo.
“The Philippine Army grieves over the death of these men. We honor their sacrifice in serving our country and protecting the people of Jolo, Sulu. To the bereaved families of our troops, we extend our deepest condolences. Rest assured that the Army is here to help you and is ready to extend the necessary assistance,” he said in a separate statement.
