LOOK: Curfew violators in Parañaque sit under scorching sun as punishment

Violators of curfew imposed during the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine in Barangay San Isidro, Parañaque City received a scorching punishment.
In a Facebook post of Barangay San Isidro, curfew violators were seen sitting on monoblocs under the heat of the sun as police officer monitors them.

“Sa lahat po na mahuhuli namin sa curfew, dito po namin lalagay,” the barangay said in its post.
The city government imposed a 24-hour curfew ordinance following the order of the national government to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the country.
The post gained traction on social media with some netizens criticizing the action and said it was torture.

In a Facebook video, the chairman defended the barangay’s action and explained that the violators are lined up for verification before they were sent home.
“Naghanap lang po kami ng venue… ng lugar na maluwag na hindi sila kulob. Naghanap po tayo ng lugar na may social distancing po sila,” he pointed out.
He added that violators of curfew ordinance cannot be jailed.
