Derrick Jones Jr. edged out his opponents in the sought after NBA All-star Slam Dunk Contest on Sunday.
The Miami Heat center player, however, won the trophy in controversial finish after a fierce battle with Aaron Gordon.
The contest went overtime as the two went toe to toe with four perfect 50 scores each.
Both players made another jaw dropping 50s forcing the judges to have another round.
Jones Jr. edged Gordon after scoring 48 points in his last dunk despite Gordon’s epic dunk that got a score of 47 where he jumps over 7 foot 5 tall Tacko Fall.
The audience and players were awed to learn that Gordon’s dunk didn’t get a 50.
The outcome of the contest resulted in controversies, criticisms, and Gordon’s decision not to take part in any dunk contest again.
