More than 7,000 families who evacuated after the Taal Volcano eruption are still staying in evacuation centers in four provinces in Calabarzon (Region 4-A).
In a report by Philippine News Agency (PNA), it said that although the number has declined as of Monday, there are still a total of 7,155 families or 25,327 persons in 162 evacuation centers.
This is the data provided by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) as of 6a.m. (2 a.m. UAE Time).
Some evacuees have already returned to their homes after the volcano alert level status was lowered from 4 to 3 last Jan. 26.
However, they were those in areas outside the seven-kilometer danger zone since the barangays near those areas remain in lockdown.
The eruption has affected a total of 128,311 families since Jan. 12 and a total of P3.35 billion damage to agriculture and infrastructure was recorded in Batangas, Cavite, ang Laguna.
The national government agencies has already extended P86 million worth of assistance.
