The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) confirmed their commitment to assist and provide scholarships for the repatriated overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from the Middle East.
On Thursday, Secretary Isidro Lapeña of TESDA told that he instructed his staff to meet OFWs at the airports when they arrive to offer them the assistance of the agency, as per a report from the Philippine News Agency.
“We will provide scholarships, including free assessment and certification for untimely return of thousands of OFWs,” Lapeña
13 OFWs from Iraq arrived in Manila as they fled the on-going military tensions between Iran and the United States.
Meanwhile, OFWs who would stay in the Philippines for good may avail TESDA’s Training for Work Scholarship Program which was designed to cater to those who might want to become entrepreneurs.
Toolkits for baking, dressmaking, among others were among the benefits that scholars from this program may receive from TESDA.
