PH repatriates 26 OFWs from Lebanon before Christmas

The Philippine Government repatriated 26 distressed overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) from Lebanon who all arrived in Manila December 22, days just before Christmas.

All of the distressed workers were allegedly victims of human trafficking.

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Sarah Lou Y. Arriola, who herself lead the repatriation team in the Middle East, said that this is the kind of commitment the government provides for OFWs under the Duterte administration.

The OFWs were welcomed by Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns Brigido J. Dulay along with Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

They were assisted by the DFA to pursue filing cases against their illegal recruiters.

The distressed OFWs were all thankful to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. for their support for overseas Filipino workers.

There is an existing deployment ban to Lebanon due to the deepening financial difficulties in the country.
