Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport has announced that the new four toll gates which will open starting on 15 Oct 2019 will be free of charge until January 1, 2020.
This move aims to provide residents more time to planned travel times and explore alternatives.
The DoT said in a statement, “The system has been developed with the aim of reducing traffic congestion while limiting costs for residents.”
“Once fees are implemented, senior citizens, retirees, martyrs’ family members, people of determination and low-income earners will be exempt, according to eligibility,” it added.
Transport authorities also put a cap on monthly fees for private vehicles. Dh200 for first vehicles, Dh150 for second and Dh100 each for additiinal vehicles.
