Napoles included on inmates list set to be released through GCTA

Pork barrel queen Janet Lim Napoles is among those who are included on the list of inmates who could’ve benefited from the controversial Good Conduct Time Allowance Law (GCTA).

In a report on ABS-CBN, records showed that Napoles is among those who are set for release under GCTA.

Napoles was sentenced to life imprisonment on December 2018 after pocketing millions of pesos using lawmakers’ Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) or ‘pork barrel’ and establishing fake non-government organizations.

However, the Napoles’ case isn’t plunder but rape.

“The next question is we want to see whether they already have a recommendation for early release. That is already a recommendation for release andiyan na siya (Napoles) sa listahan,” Senate Blue Ribbon Chair Richard Gordon told ABS-CBN News.

The senator also questioned why she is facing a different charge on the list.

“Bakit nila pinapalitan ‘yung charges? Paano naman makakapag-rape si Napoles?” Gordon added.

The Justice Department said that it will review BuCor’s list and admitted that there are many errors on the list given by the corruption-ridden agency.

“Kung talagang andiyan po ang name ni Janet Lim Napoles, ipapa-check ko po sa BuCor iyan kung bakit rape ang crime na nakalagay diyan. Siguro kailangan nating i-verifyiyan sa BuCor to investigate kung paano siya nasama sa listahan with a crime she supposedly did not commit,” Justice Undersecretary Deo Marco said.
