Cebu and Bohol provinces are taking up measures to prevent the possible entry of the African Swine Fever (ASF) here.
In Bohol, Gov. Arthur Yap has already ordered the temporary ban on importing products related to such meat as well as the transport of livestock outside of the province without proper documents.
On Aug. 20, Tuesday, he issued a statement instructing those who intend to transport livestock for such meat would have to secure a Veterinary Health certificate from any licensed veterinarian and a shipping permit from the BAI Quarantine Services.
As for related products, they require a Certificate of Meat Inspection from the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS).
In Cebu, Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia thru an executive order created a task force and to strictly implement the FDA Order No. 045 issued last May 27 that places a temporary ban on the import of meat products and DA Memo Order No. 23 dated August 30, 2018 which includes the temporary ban on importation of domestic and wild livestock of such meat and their products coming from infected countries.
Those without proper permits and certifications will be subject for confiscation.
Inspection of all incoming persons, baggage and packages in airports and all seaports in the province will also be implemented.
