Many people who are into cosmetics would love to have thick and plump lips. Even Hollywood A-listers such as Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and Kylie Jenner were celebrated for their enviable lips.
Since many desire to have this certain facial feature, some of them even go under the knife just to achieve the perfect pout. But for London-based beauty blogger Cassidy Valentine, it nearly cost her life.
Valentine, who has nearly 22,000 followers on Instagram as of press time, said that she decided to get some lip fillers at a beauty clinic which offered to do the procedure for free.
However, the treatment did not go as she planned and it did not take too long for her upper lip to swell “profusely”.
The clinic told her that it was normal and that she only needed to take antihistamine allergy tablets. But when she showed another clinic what happened to her lips, it was already blue and terribly damaged. She was rushed to emergency to remove the fillers because it is causing her lips to “die.”
“They couldn’t find a pulse in my lip. My artery had been occluded and my lip was hours from falling off as it was dying. If I hadn’t contacted the second clinic, I would not have a top lip,” Sky News quoted Valentine as saying.
“It was really scary – they had to dissolve it all. Honestly, I did feel like it would make me feel better (about myself) but it didn’t,” she said.
Now, Valentine is spreading a message of awareness among women to seek the help of medically trained doctors, instead of beauticians.
