A 29-year-old Egyptian man has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance after he allegedly raped his former colleague at her own flat in Dubai.
The complainant, a 38-year-old Filipina, said that the suspect became her friend when they worked at the same firm, reported Khaleej Times.
The Filipina resigned from that job in July 2018 and the Egyptian man got in touch with her via Facebook a few months after.
Prosecution records said that they met once again on December 29 last year after the complainant invited the man over to her place.
The complainant said that the defendant arrived at around 7:40 PM that night and brought liquor with him.
They drank from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM until the Filipina decided that she wanted to go to bed and sleep.
She told the man to stay for the night since he was heavily intoxicated and has already vomited twice.
However, the man said that he will just leave and the Filipina no longer insisted on making him stay.
Thinking that the man left and was no longer in her house, the woman then went to her bedroom and left the door unlocked.
The complainant then said that the man then followed her inside the room and started kissing and touching her.
The woman recounted that she told the man to stop several times but he did not listen to her.
She said that the man raped her twice and that she was able to escape her own flat to seek help when the man was looking for his keys.
She immediately approached the security guard of her residential building and filed a report at the Jebel Ali police station.
A forensic report showed that the victim was raped by the defendant.
The man admitted to the crime during investigation saying that he was drunk when it happened.
The court’s verdict will be released on April 29.
