Veteran singer Gary Valenciano said that he is supporting his good friend Jim Paredes after the latter got involved in a controversy when his private video got leaked online.
Valenciano said in a press conference that Paredes can count on his and the he will still have his back amid everything that he is going through because of the issue, reported PEP.ph.
“Well, as an OPM singer, siyempre malungkot ako sa nangyari sa kanya,” he said.
“Kung ‘yun ang mangyari sa akin, I would love to have even one person to be able to come up to me and say, ‘You know what, let’s stick together,’” he added.
However, Valenciano said that he has not yet talked to Paredes ever since his video was released online.
“I know he needs time on his own. This is something na medyo mahirap harapin,” he said.
“I know many people will put him down. Pero ako, dahil alam ko rin ang mga pagkakamali ko sa buhay, nabigyan ako ng pagkakataon. I was forgiven many times also, I put myself in that situation also,” he added.
To recall, Paredes initially claimed that the video was “fake”. However, he eventually posted a blog entry wherein he owned up to the controversial video but said it was not meant for public consumption.
It remains unclear where the said video came from. It is also unknown if it was Paredes who recorded himself or if someone got a hold of the file. Some netizens are also questioning if the release of the video is a spyware concern.
Even Paredes himself said that he does not know how the video found its way to the internet since it was meant to be private.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have earlier said that they are also ready to investigate the viral video scandal of Paredes once he filed a formal complaint with the authorities.
