His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, inspired a person with disability (PWD) to paint even if he is unable to use his hands.
Keralite Jesfer, an Indian national, painted a portrait for the Vice President and HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, using his mouth.
Jesfer said the 15 square foot portrait symbolizes his gratitude for the Ruler, who showed support toward PWDs.
“In April, when Sheikh Mohammed announced that people disabilities will now be called people with determination, it was a real morale booster for me,” Jesfer said in a media interview.
Jesfer was referring to the Vice President’s speech during the launch of the National Strategy for Empowering People with Disabilities at the Ministry of Community Development.
“The achievements that people of determination have made in various spheres over the past years are proof that determination and strong will can do the impossible,” HH Sheikh Mohammed said.
Jesfer spent more than 500 hours to complete the oil on canvas art piece. “This portrait is my tribute to my dear leaders,” he told media reporters in an interview.
