President Rodrigo Duterte reiterated that his daughter, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, is not running for the 2022 presidential elections.
“Inday Sara is not running, I have really, really, put my foot down. I pity my daughter. The politics here is dirty,” Duterte said in a speech in Surigao Del Sur.
The president made the statement after he was asked to convince his daughter to run for the 2022 polls.
Duterte also hit former senator Antonio Trillanes, saying: “Ito si Trillanes, be careful of Trillanes, magbantay kayo. He will sell you to the devil. ‘Pag yan ang nakaupo, patay.”
The presidential daughter again topped the list of possible contenders for the 2022 presidential and vice-presidential elections, according to the research group OCTA.
In the study conducted by OCTA from Jan. 26-Feb. 1, the Davao City mayor garnered 22% of respondents who have her as their choice to be the country’s next president.
Senator Grace Poe came in second with 13%, Senator Manny Pacquiao and former Sen. Bongbong Marcos with 12% each, and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno with 11%.
Vice President Leni Robredo received 5% in the independent survey.
Duterte also leads the survey for the vice-presidential post after getting 14% of the survey votes. Moreno and Pacquiao inched closer with 11% each, while Poe only has 10%.
